Club Championship Finals on Sunday September 19 2021
The weather looked very unpromising to start with, but by 2pm the sun had come out and it was a lovely afternoon. A good number of spectators gathered to see Tam Motion and Tom Lenagan compete for the Mens Championship, with the President Derick Scott as marker, and Ann Henderson play Sally Vick for the ladies, marked by the Vice President Christine Simpson.
The men's match was a very closely fought contest throughout with the scores almost even for most of the game. At the last end in a nail biting finishwith the score standing at 20 all, Tom Lenagan won by 1 shot. In the case of the ladies, Sally pulled right ahead early on, but Ann fought back well and the final score was 22-13.
Both matches were excellent to watch and many congratulations to all of the contestants. The game was followed by tea and cake outside with the spectators included.

Championship Finals, 21st July 2019
Two excellent matches took place on Sunday afternoon, with Walter Vassie playing Peter Lindsay and Sheena Stenhouse playing Christine Simpson. The spectators enjoyed 2 superb close games, possibly the closest they have ever been with almost nothing to separate the contestants. There had to be two winners however, and in the mens' game Peter narrowly beat Walter 21-20, and in the ladies game it was Christine who won 21-19. Both are first time Club champions.
After the presentation of the trophies the ladies Committee provided a strawberry tea with wine for everyone present.
Congratulations to the two new champions Peter and Christine!
XILINX Day Out
On August 1st our Club was very pleased to host an afternoon of bowls for Xilinx, a local computer software firm. We provided enough bowls for 48 people, most of whom had never bowled before, and after a tentative start they had great fun discovering how difficult it is to bowl!
They brought their own refreshments and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, especially as the weather was so good. By the end (about 7pm) there was a hard core of enthusiasts left on the green who asked if they could put up a team for a challenge game against our Club! We hope this will take place later this month or September.
